What clubs or activities are you involved in at WHS?

Currently the design editor of the Yearbook organization, an AP 2-D art student, as well as a previous attendee of the MNTC design program.

What internship(s) were you part of during the 2024-25 school year?

This year I chose to do a graphic design internship, originally meeting with Rob Morris from Moore Monthly, and later working on illustrations for a book and a wristband.

Why did you choose to do an internship this year?

After attending MNTC for a year I knew that I wouldn't be able to continue because of scheduling issues at school and an increased role in our yearbook program. Luckily, I had enough space in my schedule to fit in the internship program, which was an opportunity to use what I learned in MNTC for building a career.

What are the benefits of doing an internship while in high school?

I'd say a major benefit of starting in high school is being able to build experience and confidence in a career early. It also has given me more of an insight into working with others in a graphic design setting.

What are some things you’ve learned about your career interests since doing the internship?

When studying at MNTC, we had projects to prepare me for the scenarios that I was placed in for my internship, but being in the field work, it was both very familiar and very different. It was very exciting to get the opportunity that I did but also, I didn't have the safety net that I had in Moore Norman.

What are your plans after high school graduation?

After high school I am planning on continuing my career in graphic design while also pursuing further education. Specifically, after I finish with my basics I want to go to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), in order to tap into my skills as an artist and designer even more.

Has your internship helped set a direction for you for a college degree program or for a possible career?

Yes, I feel like it very much has. Before this program, I didn't have nearly as much experience as I do now, and it has set me on a course to be more successful.

Do you recommend students do an internship?

Yes, I absolutely do, as it lets those who are anxious to try getting into a field they are interested in to try it out. It lets them see if their path is right before they have to go all in or not.
